User Interaction & Experience Design

Along with how things look and feel, it is important to narrow in on the best navigation, data structure and user flow to make sure things work correctly, efficiently, and have the ability to scale. I begin every project by doing competitive analysis, looking at user behavior/data, defining the problem space, and coming up with success metrics to make sure the solution I provide will not only look the part but be the best user experience possible.

Ebay put me in charge of leading the inspiration, engagement, and conversion efforts for their Selling platform. My focus was on increasing top of the funnel traffic, as well as conversion, completion, catalog adoption, and retention. I used analytics as well as quantitative and qualitative research to define churn drivers, common barriers to entry, and defined principles that aligned with our users needs/values. Here are a few of the features I worked on.

MyFitnessPal had attempted multiple times to tackle the difficult task of allowing users to find and log accurate nutrition information when eating out. I helped them design and implement Restaurant Logging using an algorithm that matches food from the database to items on restaurant menus. We partnered with Panera, Foursquare and SinglePlatform for our final launch.

Omghow wanted to create an online community where real girls could go to find answers to all of their health, beauty, fitness, relationship, and fashion questions. They also wanted anyone to be able to both contribute and request how-to's and videos. Alongside the Octopus team, I helped Omghow create this community as well as design a brand that fit their audience.

Haven is an app that enables shippers and carriers to buy and sell shipping capacity in a safe, secure environment with no up-front costs. They needed a clean, professional site that would explain the benefits of using their process for all parties involved, link to jobs and collect emails. Alongside the Octopus team, I designed a web site and illustrations for their first landing page.

Rodarte is a luxury fashion label from Los Angeles who was seeing great success in the fashion world, but had an outdated website. Their new site needed to be clean and simple with an elegant, high-end feel and the clothing, of course, needed to take center stage against a neutral backdrop. In collaboration with the Octopus team, I designed them a new site just in time for fashion week.

Union & Fifth is a non-profit whose goal was to create a platform for the community to fundraise for other non-profits around the country. They wanted users to be able to buy and/or donate gently worn designer clothing and choose which non-profit organizations would receive the proceeds from these sales. In collaboration with the Octopus team, I helped Union & Fifth create this platform for doing good.
